Saint Mark Daily Lenten Devotional – February 24, 2015

by Jim Harper

Scripture1 Corinthians 1:20-31

This scripture speaks of the importance of everything and all people in God’s world. It encourages us to be humble and not boast. In God’s world, human perceptions are reversed! Those who seem powerful to us are, in reality, powerless. Those who seem wise to us are actually ignorant.

When this life ends and we transition through death, our faith will reveal vast unknowns; I look forward to these revelations. I do not want to die, but because of my faith, I do not fear death. As verse 25 says, “God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.”

What we know in our world is just a tip on God’s iceberg of knowledge. We may live in the Information Age, but we haven’t seen or known anything yet!

Prayer:   Lord, when things don’t go as planned today, help me remember to relax and be thankful for life and human ignorance (mine and others’). Amen.
